I would suggest that if you are a member of the RSOC you read the full post and explaination regarding the bill on the RSOC BB members section.

As others have said this is not something out of the blue, local groups were briefed that they would be expected to pay towards the legal costs of running a regional day, average legal bills were approx £1200 per show, multiply by 16 regional days and you can begin to see where your membership money goes.

The club is simply asking the groups to contribute towards these costs enabling the comittee better manage club finances.

Lets not hang the comittee for trying to recoup costs and get the club onto a financially stable footing.

    cheers, Paul

Sorry but our last weekend show cost a lot less than the grand we gave back to the club for this..

Why if you can't actually afford to put a day on is it a stab in the back......that statement makes fooook all sense.

Read what you wrote on here mate....

I don't read rallye news so i can't comment if it was mentioned.

But it was a big topic at the agm so if you attended the agm you would know about it.

If you didn't know then that would be down to lee who has now left...

I think its the lack of communication from the top table that is the problem reading this.

That has been a problem for years IMHO.

i hope the oxford boys know about this , i'm sure they do

there must be a lack of comms though, for so many organisers not to know about these important little details

what more do you want? your tone is as if the club is making a profit! have you not read that both the club and the local group are going HALVES on the actual costs?

Paul is right it was talked about at the LGS and the AGM in November regarding percentage payments for legal work, plaques, trophies and liability cover

tbh the committee from what i could gather were extremely concerned over the amount of shows booked this year and costs relating to this many shows.

I remember Graham John warning about having to many shows at the 2004 AGM he put a proposal together to move things to a different angle but it was shot down in flames but was a very sound proposal tbh and should of been accepted. I am sure Graham knows exactly what I am on about and would be more than willing to post the details up.

Any chance Graham you could do this on here?

Sorry i dont know how to put the link to this subject so i have just copied the whole lot.

Following on from the threads about Regional Days can i add my personal feelings.
Ever since i joined this club i have always looked forward to the Regional Days more than anything else, to be honest even more than National Day, because the shows throughout the year reflect the committment that the Members have in there local area. I know about holding a Local show we in Nottingham held 3 in the 90s the first one being funded mostly out of mine & a couple of other peoples own pockets. The following 2 we funded from the profits made from the previous year. Personally and i stress PERSONALLY i dont care how many shows take place in one year, as i believe they atrract new people into the club, whether that is Nationally or just locally. I would never want to be in the position when we have to say NO to people holding shows. I remember going to shows when we had 50 cars in concours , but things have changed in the past 10 years for better or worse. Having only 8 cars attend a concours event must open some peoples eyes to the inevitable conclusion that we either have to many shows or that goegraphically having shows in virtually the same area 2 weeks apart is a receipe for disaster.
Reading through the threads what has come across to me is that most of you agree that the National Club cannot continue to fund in FULL regional days, I have to say that the biggest expense we have is the Solicitors, we just cannot sustain there level of charges but until that area is rectified we have to put up with it.
It is not without regret that we are in this position of having to try and claw back some of the costs we are incuring, I understand that for some of the smaller static shows the revenue earned from your local show sustains you for the following year.
From my position as Chairman i and the committee have to look after the finances of all 4000 ish members to the best of our ability and giving away £15,000 + each year ( which is what we have done recently) means financial suicide.
I understand that some of you feel let down again by the lack of communication, and i apoligise for that, but i have spoken to some of you at the shows and by telephone and will continue to be available to talk. This situation was brought up at the LGM/AGM by the previous Chairman but it seems from that point onwards the communication has been lacking, mostly it appears by the change in personal midway through the year.
I would like hold an informal meeting for local groups for you to air your views. Maybe this could be done at Ford Fair as most groups seem to attend. I may well get shot down by the rest of committee for making this suggestion as i have not spoken to any of them ( lack of communication is also evident on the top table as well) but hey i am small enough to dodge the bullets.
I will be at Croft on Sunday if you want to talk. Just not all at once LOL

maybe a solution would be to have a gap year for some shows and a maximum of concours events that are in specific regions

                                this would hopefully increase attendance

dorset never had a show last year, we would have liked to, but there were date clashes with another show and we decided against it

plans were drawn up in june/july last year for this years show - there was already talk off gapping next year and doing it again in 2010 before this payment thing arose

                                just a thought
