Ladies and gents
We would like to share some photographs of an event that took place yesterday (Weds 18th June) at Teesside Autodrome Middlesbrough.
Paul McCallum of Japspeed & the BDC, Stobart WRC team organised a demonstration of drifting and gave passenger rides for members of Boyzone and related guests.
The event was used as a promotional day not only for the BDC but for the whole drifting scene within the UK.
Guest from various organisations were present from the owners of the transport company Eddie Stobart, Malcom Wilson - the team principle of Storbart WRC team, BDC title sponsors Falken tyres, various motorsport companies, news crews from local TV channels, various newspapers and the WRC tv crew from Dave.
A 27m square LED tv screen was set up within the pits and showed coverage of the 2008 WRC Dave.
The day started with a demostration of drifting to allow the guests to witness the cars in action.
Mathew Wilson driving a 2007 WRC Ford Focus then did a shake down on the Teesside track.
Passenger rides were then givin in the assembled drift cars to those who wished to sample the action first hand.
Mathew Wilson then gave passenger rides for various guests and showed that drifting is possible in a WRC car.
Refreshments were available all day in the Team Stobart hospitality suite and during lunch time a speech was given by Mark Buckle to the assembled guests to explain where drifting originated and how the sport has progresses to where we are today.
The BDC took this opertunity to promote the sport to a wider audience and help the sport progress to a new level.
The BDC would like to thank all the drivers and staff who attended and put on a fantastic display and helped raise the profile of the sport to a wider audience. Thank you to Peter Bartle from Japnortheast for the photographs, we will post some action shots at a later stage.
We believe some of the footage taken on the day will be broadcast within the WRC coverage on the TV channel DAVE.
