1970 silver mk2 Cortina 1600E PPP554H. Lovely car to drive and quite fast in it's day. If I remember rightly they used to have trouble with the nylon bush on gearstick location. When it got a bit worn just like having a bee in the car.
1800 marina £200 and £250 to insure it, god it was a rot box, any one in the front passenger seat used to get **** wet in the rain from water coming up through the floor had some laughs though, i remember pulling up at the local petrol station and a poser, who's daddy had bought him a spanking diamond white xr3 pulled in behind, so if you pulled out the choke and floored it when starting from hot it would back fire so we did this and covered it in black soot funny as **** the good old day's
venetian red mk2 Mexico, paid £400 when I was 16 complete with wolfrace slot mags, rebuilt it ready for passing my test (including fitting 4 spokes ) wrote it off 1 day after passing my test, bought it back from insurance company rebuilt it, this time it lasted 2 weeks this went on for 4 yrs before the lure of central locking and electric windows got the better of me and I bought an RS 1600i
MRH 463P, 1.1 Popular Plus (£385) in Olympic Blue, bought in February 1986 with RS front and rear spoilers. I have no photographs but i drew lots of pictures of it, and wasted many, many hours producing engine specs from catalogues (Rally Equipe of Bury), which deep deep down, i knew i could never afford to have done.
I'm still dreaming of owning a mk2 now...at 40. Some things never do change.

TYY 227M factory black mk1 Mexico, custom pack . paid £1400. A truly beautiful car and would love another black mk1 Mex . I've still got the original bill of sale(although not with my name on it). Sadly smashed it and should have sorted it but too young to appreciate how good the car was .
It came from the same dealer in London as my now mk2 Mex .
