The chassis tag on the n/s of the slam panel is the give-away, instead of carrying the original chassis number and paint code, it has a 75ab part number (which is the part number for a whole shell) and across the top it has "Ford parts operation Daventry" stamped on it !

Maybe there's a forgotten warehouse in Daventry with a load of old 75AB Escort shells sitting in it !!!! LOL
If Ford had any sense they would, Instead of trying to flog these modern nails for about £6,000 with a years free insurance. The way your lot are wrecking them Brian they could sell about ten a week!!!
Hi, Yes i did, thanks very much, it was nice to meet the guy that owned "that car", cant really say much more about it really, simply stunning, Ive, been onto the bank, loan agreed in principle, when your ready !!!, ian.
Does that make it better or worse that it has a service shell? Only, the shell will be newer and you'd like to think less rust.. Do these service shells come in RS format?
Dont think I'd hesitate if the car was minty, you're buying a car thats had a brand new shell at some point in its life. If it was an unstamped shell then you'd be laughing - RS1800 re-shell perhaps?
What if the reason the car had a new shell was because it was rolled end over end into a field at three weeks old by a careless driver ?
A reshell would only have been carried out because of serious accident damage when the car was nearly new - otherwise it would have been written off as un-economical to repair.
Looking at the photographs of the restoration, the car had rusted in all the usual places - so the fact that it had a new shell at some point in it's life (and as I think it would have been nearly new when it did) didn't make a lot of difference to the rot situation. You could easily see the tank well and spare wheel well had been repaired and the n/s sill/floor had a dent in it where it had been jcked incorrectly, along with the holes in the front bumper, the lump missing out of the rear spoiler and the wrong badges/stripes etc - I don't see this car at £10k - I suggested to Ian that £6k was about the mark for it.
Same goes for me, nice to all the new members and guys from the web site, keep looking Ian one will turn up one day, again if l hear of one going I'll been in touch.
