Tried one in a pinto transit, valves resessed after about 10K, tried an inline version, valves resessed after 9K, used neat unleaded valves resessed after 10K, fitted an unleaded head, still fine when i scrapped it after another 25K (i kept the head and it's now doing service on a Mk3 cortina)
My personal opinion is they are shite/load of bollox
Of course a lot depends of driving style and the type of driving you do, mine was in a mini bus (never fully loaded) that did lots motorway and very very short journeys (basicly took disabled people on holiday and to bingo 1/2 a mile away) personly i think it was the motorway millage that did it, it allways started missing on motorway journeys but we allways made it back good old pinto will limp on forever (well ni-on)
Lets face it 10K could be 10 years driving on some cars and who's gonna claim the product don't work after you've had 10 years service from it ?

When the end of leaded pertol came to sight and everyone was wondering what to do the FBHVC did some testing of the various additives and other methods of replacing the anti knock properties of leaded 4*.
None of these type of devices showed any benefit whatsover, as the above poster stated an old engine doing few miles and with little motorway use could soldier on for years without any additives.
Here is a link to the additives they deemed OK http://www.fbhvc.co.uk/fuel/index.htm#adds
IMHO best option is to use sueper unleded (Tesco do a nice eco friendly 99 octane version ) and add Castrol Valvemaster as required.
