Gary Kemps doing some lovely 300bhp Lotus 907/912 engines these days .. 2.2 to 2.6 .

I had the 2.2 in my mk1 , so did geoff lanes brother, he had inner wings , i didnt

If you want to see how good the engines are have a look at Joss Ronchetties car go.. its quick.

Once its between the inner wings the dizzy is almost imposible to get at .. and taking the exhaust manifold off can be a problem too.

They got a bad reputation when Lotus used Jensen Healeys as a testbed for them in 1970, by 1973 all the problems had been ironed out.

Good engines really as long as the owners hav'nt let them idle till they are warm.. start up and run at 1500 till the needle moves or the pistons slap like mad.

A good engine (ie brand new ) should have 5 psi (hot) at idle and 45psi (hot) at 4000 rpm
