  • Worst EBayer

What is your experience of the worst EBay Seller - mine is Cortina41. I bought a radio pod for by base model RS2000 but one of the mounting brackets was broken off because the item was not packaged well enough so the pod is worthless. When I complained I was told to go and whistle!

    Any more?

Careful lads - we're going down this eBay slippery road again!

            Now some positive notes:

EBay is, for me, the ONLY way to progress with a restoration of a 30 year old car. It has opened brand new vistas of sourcing for parts. Unless someone wants to set up another planet-wide, secure, selling and buying system, then don't knock eBay!

As with anything like eBay, there will always be a few dubious individuals. My experience of small ads, fly-by-night telephone numbers, boxes of rust arriving instead of a 'nearly new' part have been FAR WORSE before the advent of eBay.

If a single individual is persistently peddling junk, then it's maybe worthwhile mentioning this but, be aware, this BB is public domain and you might found yourself at the wrong end of a solicitor for slander or similar! Also, if you buy something and it doesn't arrive and later the buyer's name disappears, just consider that he may have been killed in a road accident before you let off tirades of abuse.

I FULLY support eBay and am willing to take the rough and the smooth. I've paid over the odds sometimes, but sometimes I've shot great bargains; I've had disappointing deliveries sometimes, but I've had buyers who often put in freebees (which I do too if I can).

Right, now I feel much better!

              BTW, rsash,

Cortina41 is listed in eBay with 100% positive feedback. I couldn't see a transaction with the item you've described. I did find a comment "very well packaged" on another item.

Every one else seems satisfied - are you trying to wind us up? LOL!

PS: On another post, everyone seems satisfied with the quality of The Escort Agency but yourself. Again, are you trying to wind us up?

Please don't be offended - I know I am sometimes a bit cynical! LOL!

If I put negative feedback I will get it back at me - this has happened before and is one risk with the system. You can pay quickly but loose out when the item is damaged.

No I am not winding you up

Yeah, I agree with you that "feedback ransoming" is not so good. When I buy and pay quickly I expect positive feedback. It's getting so that some sellers will only give you a feedback after they've received yours, even if you paid up front and quickly. This p*sses me off too. In these cases I refuse to become a feedback hostage and don't give feedback at all.

Anyway, my original comments apply. EBay is like a democracy: It's the worst form of government - but it's the best we have!

BTW there are some so-called orig. Ford RS Stickers on (german) eBay at the moment. I bought some and the quality is appalling. On the woven RS logo, not even the width of the logo lines is constant etc. etc.. The seller has agreed to refund my money, which is fair. However, he doesn't understand my criticism and the sales continue. I won't name names, but if you see the picture of the sticker in eBay and look closely you'll see what I mean.
