Bought a pair of 45's yesterday from Southern Carburettors and was surprised how much they had gone up in price - 30% since the start of the year!!! I paid over £800 for 2x 45 DCOE's and a Mangoletsi inlet manifold.
The bloke behind the counter told me that the factory has been on strike since early this year and they haven't made a carb since, hence low supply:higher price (economics students - pay attention at the back!!) . The reason all the worker are on strike is that they suspected they were all going to be made redundant as the 5 year period in which a company in "receivership" under Spanish law is prevented from making people redundant, was about to expire.
If the company is liquidated it could be the end for Weber carbs as we know them
I also found out that Dellorto haven't made a carb for 13 years.
My advice to you all is if you are looking for a new carb get in there quick - you may not get another chance!
Cheers
