as you may have read eddie and myself went to sussex performance cars today to have our cars tweeked on the rollers, eddie suffered a little harshly imo with a tiddly water leak but im sure he will return another time, i however was able to get a full health check and several adjustments were made, the interesting one for me was that i was running 50 deg of ign advance thats right, 50!! no wonder it was a pig to start and no wonder it blew head gaskets (2) last year, the **** who 'tuned' it first off has a lot to answer for i feel, especially as he charged so much, SPC is a great place and i would reccomend it to anyone, reasonably priced this time too.
as for the output, i will be honest and say i was a little dissapointed, especially as i have a jems head which the scottish boys seem to get good outputs with, i will have to say my choice of cam is the item for a lower output, previously i was told it had 160bhp at the flywheel so was looking for something similar, what it actually had when i turned up was approx 130bhp but once the timing was sorted and a few jets replaced it made 140.3 bhp at the crank, ok not massive figures but to be honest the thing is a lot nicer to drive on the road, and the torque curve seems pretty smooth so for now i am happy, but this winter i may chase another 20-30 bhp
unfortunately no vids or pics were allowed, we didnt hang around anyway and ventured off into horsham for the morning, but when we came back this was line up to go on the rollers after mine ( obviously they had to let them cool down a while after my car had ripped them up )
anyone recognise it??
