The RSOC comittee now know my decision so the truth is out there, for those of you who don't here it is.
On Saturday my 8 year old daughter was taken into hospital, fortunately she was released the same day and is recovering from a severe virus, this was very stressful, despite this on Sunday I left home at 03.30 to travel 255 miles at times through blizzard conditions to attend the RSOC registrars/committee meeting.
I had an inclination that there would be disputes regarding the Cumbria show, I was not aware how personal it would become against both Steve Ogle and myself. For at least half an hour there was a very heated arguement against Steve personally and comments I have made at times and over the last few months, I was advised to stay off the RSOC BB.
I defended both Steve and myself and the Cumbria show but to no avail, there were people in the room who voiced their opinion that Steve only wanted the show on the Sunday to cover his arse insurance wise for the Lakes tour.
I was told that last year it was the RS500 boys causing all the trouble and this year it’s the MK2 lads. I was asked why no-one was using the RSOC BB and why we all still frequent ‘rallyesportescorts’, I was also told that no MK2 boys had rejoined the club, a point which I corrected them .
I regret not standing up at this point and walking out, the apathy is unbelievable, I have been in meetings when at work with management and you can tell when they are listening but not taking heed. Afterwards they walk out and behind closed doors continue as they intend no matter what, this was no different. I believe if your face doesn’t fit and you’ve rocked the boat there is no going back.
Therefore when my membership of the RSOC expires in July I will not be renewing, this automatically means that I cannot hold an official position.
From what I have seen behind doors the RSOC has nothing to offer the MK2 owner and they don’t seem interested or bothered.
I stepped forward to represent the MK2 owners at a time when they were dispondant with their registrar and the club, I didn't join to be publicly berated in meetings, its a car club not life or death and some people need to get a better perspective on this.
There are some very good people in the club, you have a very nice man at the top in Kev Cannon but I fear Kev may have a battle on his hands.
All the best for the future, Paul
