  • The truth

The RSOC comittee now know my decision so the truth is out there, for those of you who don't here it is.

On Saturday my 8 year old daughter was taken into hospital, fortunately she was released the same day and is recovering from a severe virus, this was very stressful, despite this on Sunday I left home at 03.30 to travel 255 miles at times through blizzard conditions to attend the RSOC registrars/committee meeting.

I had an inclination that there would be disputes regarding the Cumbria show, I was not aware how personal it would become against both Steve Ogle and myself. For at least half an hour there was a very heated arguement against Steve personally and comments I have made at times and over the last few months, I was advised to stay off the RSOC BB.

I defended both Steve and myself and the Cumbria show but to no avail, there were people in the room who voiced their opinion that Steve only wanted the show on the Sunday to cover his arse insurance wise for the Lakes tour.

I was told that last year it was the RS500 boys causing all the trouble and this year it’s the MK2 lads. I was asked why no-one was using the RSOC BB and why we all still frequent ‘rallyesportescorts’, I was also told that no MK2 boys had rejoined the club, a point which I corrected them .

I regret not standing up at this point and walking out, the apathy is unbelievable, I have been in meetings when at work with management and you can tell when they are listening but not taking heed. Afterwards they walk out and behind closed doors continue as they intend no matter what, this was no different. I believe if your face doesn’t fit and you’ve rocked the boat there is no going back.

Therefore when my membership of the RSOC expires in July I will not be renewing, this automatically means that I cannot hold an official position.

From what I have seen behind doors the RSOC has nothing to offer the MK2 owner and they don’t seem interested or bothered.

I stepped forward to represent the MK2 owners at a time when they were dispondant with their registrar and the club, I didn't join to be publicly berated in meetings, its a car club not life or death and some people need to get a better perspective on this.

There are some very good people in the club, you have a very nice man at the top in Kev Cannon but I fear Kev may have a battle on his hands.

All the best for the future, Paul

change can only come from within

looks like it will never change now

I was sure in time both this BB/its members and The Lakes tour could of been championed under the RSOC banner. Dont think this will happen now.

shame . I rarely go on the rsoc board, have heard that frosty is getting some grief at the mo, all he tries to do is help the job along with his enthusiasm for the marque. It's all getting too political.

Can't blame you Paul but tis a shame as things will never get better if people like yourself and Steve don't feel its worth it. Keep your chin up dude.

like you say paul its a car club !! something to enjoy and get us all away from the mortgage and stressess of life . You seem like a good bloke who helps anyone out when you can and you are very respected on this site ! so bollocks to them . They loose in my opinion and i will also support you by not renewing my membership when it runs out ! Sometimes your right the face dont fit and there is a clash of personalities in jobs and clubs but you cant change who you are and you shouldnt !

never go on the RSOC BB, it's much more entertaining and informative on here, I shan't be joining the RSOC I think the club emphasis shifted away from the rear drive cars (esp. the Escort) a while ago, as can only be expected given the numbers of other models about.

Having heard the stories of recent times I would say that the RSOC doesn't really have any room left in it for our cars and their owners, this is why people don't frequent the board and have been ever more reluctant to sign up to pay membership fees to a club that seems not to have their interests at heart.

I re-joined the RSOC after a long absence to show my support for the RS Marque and the club in general. The decision to re-join was made after spending a lot of time on this BB (not because I visit the RSOC website).

The majority of the messages posted on the RSOC site are aimed at Focus RS and Cosworth owners with very litle emphasis on pre 80 owners. As stated above we are in a minority now, but without us and previous MK1 / MK2 owners the RS Owners Club would probably (no definately) not be in existance now.

I come on here to support, have a laugh, meet new friends and get advice from like minded people which I have had over the previous months and I will support Steve/Dave/Paul etc. in their efforts to ensure that as many people visit The Lakes Tour 2008 and in future years whether I am in the RSOC or not.

The future of our cars is down to use as obviously the RSOC feel that we are becoming a nuisance. So if that is the case WHY are we part of the RSOC?
            Cheers

Another nail in the coffin of the RSOC!

There is definately an element of them and us............. and beleive me it is even harder for me owning RWD and plastic RS!

what good is a car club that ignores its founding marques .
most of the mk1 boys left years ago ,as we felt we had been totaly ignored .
its pittyful that they should only show interest in the marques that are reasonably current .
just because someone owns a rs focus does not meen to say they dont want read or hear about the original rs cars.
i would not join the rsoc if you paid me.
they are just pandering to the poeple where they get most of the subscriptions from, ****em all thats what i say

Again, was good to see you as always Paul on Sunday. Very saddened by your decision as I really thought we could now put the past MK2 issues behind us in the RSOC and look to the future with enthusiasm and hope. All this has now been lost unfortunately.
You have my respect and greatest of wishes for the future Paul.

On a different note as Jason pointed out, I am getting a hammering from certain corners which is NOT deserved and is now, really ****ing me off.
I am one of those people who gets on with everone in the world, am passionate about my RS's I hate arguing and will only fall out with someone if all else fails. I love having a laugh and hate politics. BUT, I hate posts like this which I found on the South Lincs site openly attacking myself and Kev Cannon without having a clue of the actual circumstances. All this crap does is fuel the already out of control fire. I think these people won't be content untill the club has been destroyed then will say it had nothing to do with them!!!!!!

Lord Lucan wrote:well basically the chairman has created a position for his best mate and not advertised it to other members for the opportunity to show an interest in taking it up also on another point did you notice in Rallye News some committee members have a totally different email address to the others and that means there must be another RSOC website that we were not made aware of the address is

www.rallyenews.co.uk this now points to the RSOC website why do we need this url as well as www.rsownersclub.co.uk ?

Is this a secret committee only site?

                      MY REPLY:-
Oh dear, Completely wrong and as far from the truth as you could possibly get.

I spoke to Kev about the position at Donington spares day after it all went booberlies up regarding cars for the RSOC stand which I helped out with on my own.......

The role of indoor show co-ordinator was the responsibility of Lee Pearson who was going through a bit of a troubled time and duly resigned from the position along with also being in charge of local groups. Dave Easton returned as the Local Group co-ordinator. There was a committee conference call on the following Thursday as to discuss the situation with Lee and the possibility of the return of Dave easton and also myself as the indoor show co-ordinator. Both motions were carried in favour by the committee so here we are. I am basically in the role up untill the AGM which will be held in November wher I will be up for election along with everyone else. The reason I was put into the role straight away is down to there being a few shows that need organising immediately and I was the only person who was willing to take this on. The position was originally not to be a committee position but I insisted that it was as I want to help the club in the best way I can. If I am shot down for this then it is your problem and not mine I'm afraid.
There seems to be a few people in the club that are hell bent on seeing it destroyed by constantly "Bending" the truths without hearing the full story thus blowing everything out of proportion to the detriment of the club

Nuff said, Kevin Frost. Indoor show co-ordinator.

To be honest Kev if it was me in your position i'd have said **** it by now. Life's shit enough without people giving you a hammering for trying to help out THEIR club.

Sorry to here this lads, its a same such a great club as the RSOC is intent on killing its self off

Looks like the MK1 & MK2's will never be part of the RSOC again at this rate.
You all have my support, the only reasons I'm still with the RSOC is for the car insurance but I might now look elsewere
