going to buy a 2006 KA for my daughter over the next couple of days, its Red, with 8,000 genuine miles, anything i need to be looking out for other than the obvious, i.e any little foibles they have ?

it is coming from a Ford dealer

we run 2 ka at work as courtesy car no problem and see loads through the workshop with no real dreams, fun little cars to drive, older ka have a long brake pedal which is abit worryin the first few times but the newer 1s have sorted this problem

A mate has just got once in pieces, H/G had gone and it looks like it got verrrry hot and when he took the head off it had dropped the unleaded valve insert . I don't think not having a temp gauge helps ether.....

Most KA owners I know are happy with them.

basically they are a good little motor and very simple mechanically
the only thing that the engine suffered was the spark plugs siezing
in the cyl head because of the long service intervals .Change them
every 10k and u wont have a problem besides that they drive very
well for a small car .make sure its got power steering as they are very
          heavy to steer without

All Ka's suffer with brake travel, the older ones more so, Make sure it has the clear plastic stone protectors on the rear quarter just where it meets the door at sill height, the old ones rust out there (design fault) heater valves are a common fault but not on such a new one.

There a great car, they do not suffer with head gasket troubles although as with any car if you thrash it you will cook it!

            You could buy alot worse!

thanks guys, bought it an hour ago, changed her mind from the Red one to a dark blue KA style, one year old and 7,788 miles, went well on the roadtest, and picking it up Friday

              appreciate the feedback,
