        Hello,

had a look in the loft: 2 new doors, inner wings, 3 and 4-spoke steering wheel, front quarter bumpers, remote mirrors, full set of door cards, front grill with badge, bonnet, front panel, front indicators, set of locks, big bore GP1 exhaust manifold, RS type front brake pads, caps for the RS-wheel with RSlogo, etc ... boring isn't it?

Due to a new BDE, all the above is for sale, pics available at request.
        Genuine RS-people only please.

        Grtz, Leon.

                  Hmmmm i know Brian.
It a shame that Ford crushed all the panel making equipment huh!
Just makes me so jealous of my mate who has a poxy MG Midget, and he can order 'ANYTHING' for his car brand new.
Why was this!! Didn't ford have the foresight to sell on the presses for the enthuisiats.I guess they wanted us to buy the newer models and forget that the mk1 and mk2 won the wrc for all those years!
Anyone have any info on this? What can we do about it? Sure there are a few people making specialised bits and pieces, but when my mate says that he can order a new mg shell if he wants to i almost keel over with envy!!

I wondered that too - though I am glad you can get pretty good quality pattern panels etc. I'd rather spend a few grand (£10K+ say) restoring a nice standard RS MKII, (Gen Ford parts or not) than indulging Ford's wishes and spending similar (perhaps a little more) on a new Focus, Mondeo etc. But I guess that's a different argument and quite probably people like me are responsible for Ford's current global predicament and hence they find themselves flogging off Cosworth and Jaguar F1.....But then again maybe car design really was at it's peak in the 1960s & 1970s???

History never was my favorite subject, but didn't the WRC only start in about 1975? As far as I can remember, only once did a MkII win a WRC. Not sure wheteher there were Manufacturers' championships, or was it just drivers? Was there a world championship class before the WRC?

Considering the wins by Stratos, 034, Fiat 131 and Co. I'd prefer to be looking for Ford Escort parts!

'tis a shame about the moulds but, before Ford is criticised, it might be worth knowing if they were offered for auction etc. and no-one was interested! They were probably sold to Steptoe & Son who thought the raw metal was worth more melted down!

                          Hey Madman!

in actual fact the question did have a background - When I lived in GB I knew all the stories too of how successful the Escort was. On the continent, however, it's hardly known amongst the general populace. In fact, when you mention RS2000 the thing which springs to mind is always the droop snoot (which the rally cars didn't have!). So a few months ago I went on to the Internet to gather all of the famous Escort world history to have it at hand and ..... I couldn't find any!

Oh sure, they were up at the top on the GB rallys for years and years, but if you look at the rallys of other countries, then their own national products are also at the top of their own national events (Fiat 131, Alpine Renault A110 etc.)

So I'm genuinely interested to see if the Escort "world success" story is basically a UK journalism/publicity creation. Let's face it, Volkswagen have us believe that the GTI was the first series saloon with 16 valves (Triumph Dolomite Sprint?) and Audi have us believe they did the first production road-going 4WD saloon (Jensen Interceptor FF?). So did Ford have everyone believe the Escort was a world dominating rally car? Answers on a postcard ......

I know it all sounds like blasphemy, but any facts are most welcome!

Rarest NEW Ford old stock part ??

                              That's a good question Dave.

I reckon the rarest new old stock parts I've got are the alloy carpet trims still in the packets. I've never seen another set for sale.

                              Anyone else got some ?
                              Cheers Rob.

I have two carpet rails in the bags,
Also new complete exhaust inc manifold,
                                heater decal,
                                seat belts,
                                air box two fixing,
                                ate servo,
                                full decal set in black,
nose cone brackets (dont even have a part number)

And a couple of bits i dont need
                                RS1800 engine bay loom,
                                and the side repeaters.

But i would say new trim has got to be the Holy Grail of unused parts.
