bulkhead pads will cost a very large sum of money....ive already checked this out...i was thinking of doing as you say martin but for them to sell it needs to be a 100% copy of the original so that means rubber....as you have to make mould first & this is what costs the money...bummer really.... ....ive even looked into getting new doors made, thats a complete shell with skin but costs again are bloody mental...roughly £1200 per pair...way to exppensive...although i see that newford parts got a new batch of std mk1 wings made, but his prices are mad £225 not sure if vat is inc in that and defo no carriage costs etc so your looking at nearly £300 a wing & i know why...but when i was looking into doing the mk1 RS wing done i was asking £600 per pair and the amount of people that were giving out about the price ..this side of europe parts aint worth making

Are not the bulkhead pads made out of a bitumous material rather than rubber, as the material it goes brittle as it ages.

I need one and have been thinking how to make one, possibly by making a form out of wood, and possibly using a material stuck on in layers rather like paper mache, but in the right suitable material. This could even be given a final bitumous finish to look original. Perhaps someone knows of a material that could be used in this way to give a acceptable finish.

it's ok trying to make a pad but theres not a big call for them as most ppl on this BB have there cars done. it's just the odd person that needs one and the come up on ebay enough to stop the demand. i have looked into having them remade and it's just to hard and it will cost to much.

i think you could deffo shift a good few paul, as good ones are hard to find, even a shabby one demands crazy cash , 2 here mate

I for one needs one. I won't risk taking mine off my car again. Next time it will snap in half as it is so brittle, and many others are probably going the same. I also wonder how used ones for sale survive in the post!
