  • Question for the bikers amongst us

As some of you will know I own a 996 Ducati, I fancy a change but want to stay with Ducati. Photo my 996

Now should I trade for a new Monster aircooled S2R 1000

or as I may have a chance of a s/h S4 RS and go for the all singing and dancing with tassells on model?

I do like my 996 but at 43 its getting uncomfortable , (that said for the miles I do in a year it hardly matters) thing is I believe that the 996 will be a classic as will the original shape Monster so need to know some of your opinions please.

    Thanks Vince

i see a S4 RS at boxhill at the weekend and i must say it's a stunning bike.....it's a shame i'm so short as i would buy another bike...the only bike i could ever fit on was a frz400 exup.. i have had 3 of these and love them for the size...but there old hat now like the escorts
i might get another one someday

do like the look of the bikes that have all the fairings on - the frame exposed looking ones dont do it for me .......... just look unfinished

      the 996 is lovely

        Do all Italian machines count?

If so try a Lambretta/Vespa they don't have the power of the Ducati but still have a certain amount of style (depends of course what your taste is).

Check out our website http://www.plsc.asn.au/ (yep full of POMS I'm afraid)

996 for me, don't like the others. But I will never afford one as a toy, so I like to get Honda SP2, or for less sporty and loads of muscle, with the retro look, the Suzuki gsx1400

Personally i would keep your bike, it may be a little uncomfy but i have the same problem with my gixer, think its an age thing lol. i dont really like unfaired bikes, not much wind protection and a pain in the arse to keep clean, your bike is a work of art,so if your not riding it you can at least use it as an ornament lol

Don't fall off your bike.... It Hurts

i would, but as wozzy says, don't like the unfaired bikes, how many miles do you do?? maybe worth keeping the 996 if you don't do that many, also as a dealer once told me, you don't need to ride a ducati just opening the garage door and seeing it there is enough, the dealer will slit your throat with the 996 price thesedays, i'm still laughing now when he told me how much he would give me for my 999s, keep the 996 would be my advice, get a monster on test from the dealer and get it out of your system

That 996 is bloody lovely, what year is it? If you can afford too then keep it-forever!!

Own a 748 myself that I am p/x next week for a 675. Still not sure I am doing the right thing but the duke is a few years old now (2000 W plate) and I just want something newer. Am off to France for a biking trip and just not sure if the old girl would be up for it.

Having said that, I can see me riding the 675 for a year and then looking for a 996/998 cos I've always wanted one.
