STAR
I've been looking for some time now to buy an road going MK2 as the Grp4 build is taking it's time and large amounts of money.
So around Christmas time i put my FRS up for sale. This sold very quickly (Thanks to Nelly..aka Neil).
The hunt was then on and i soon got chatting to Richard Wilson via Pm's and he told me of a couple of Mex's over in N.I.
After talking with Neil we decided to make the trip over to N.I. with Richard arranging to meet us at the airport.
Neil got round mine at 4.45am to fined me still in bed, so quick shower and shave and off to the airport.
Meeting Richard was like meeting a long lost friend and we soon filled the hour drive north with tales of Mk2's.
Richard then proceeded to tell us that he'd not only got 2 Mex's for us to look at but a number of other cars. A MK2 RS2000, Mk1 Mexico and another MK2 Mex. (Gonna be a long day )
Spoiled for choice and not wanting to get caught up in new car syndrome we took our time, with everyone we met being fantastic. (Thanks for you hospitality and the chance to look round your cars)
Well, I've now found the car that was for me.
A simple MK2 Mex Red, 2ltr, Cam, 38DGAS 5 Speed, 7's.... I love it.
Dean the owner (lovely chap) and building one hell of a MK2 RS2000 cosworth was sorry to see her go but needs must and i assured him she'd be going to a good home.
We set back off to Belfast to book the ferry, but found we couldn't make it in time so had to wait for the 8pm crossing to Stranraer (the 3hr crossing )
I tried to get my head down (bit hard on a rocking boat while Nelly watched The Bill )
The drive home took forever and along with the full day we arrived back home at 5.15am the next day knacked.
Sorry to go on, but in all it was a great adventure with Neil and Richard being the stars and myself being the lucky git who gets the prize .
Here's a few photo's see you at the Lakes
