  • where are my chassis numbers ?

Got the DVLA coming to inspect the Mexico soon (I bought it from N.I.) so I just wanted to check all was well before they turn up

Strut tops have been replaced (just in case this is where they`re supposed to be) so no numbers there.

Will there be one under the carpet somewhere

stamped in strut top and on your vin-tag on slam panel. thats it.
sure for dvla purposes you have to have the number permanantly stamped in somewhere, ie, your strut top.
i had a car inspected a few years ago, and they would not accept the vin tag only as proof of i.d.
i had to lift the carpets and show them the stamped in number( was a mk3 escort)
you may need to get your strut top stamped up.
    cheers.

A Vehicle Identification Number (VIN or chassis number) is required on all vehicles first used on or after 1 August 1980.

You will need only a chassis tag plate to be fitted

Personally I would have had ALL id items in place BEFORE contacting DVLA as if they are not happy with your vehicles "perceived" age/ID then they will issue you with a DVLA Generic chassis number, age related number plate and ID and your car will no longer be an RS Mexico !

      Good luck

Mine was inspected for a plate change back to it's original. Was told that chassis plate was only required due to age of car. Have the chassis stamped on the top plate, The tester said he had not seen one of these for a very long time..........

All tags in place and numbers all match with the logbook. Plus I have DVLA copies of all previous logbooks, MOT`s and quite a bit of history with the car. Does this make any difference or is it simply a case of checking the I.D. is correct.
