They are deemed the daddy engine on the rally scene, powerful engines

Colin McRae had a Milly Diamond in his red mk2

the main thing about the millington diamond is that they are an all alloy block, so they can be bored to 95 or possibly 96mm. you also save alot of weight over the cast pinto block.
be prepared to pay alot of money tho for a road car.budget about 15k to 20k depending on spec.

NICE, an alloy blocked Pinto, only 30 years too late

all the advantages of the pinto and what 35% weight reduction?

There's a bit more to it than just being an alloy blocked Pinto.

The bottom end has ladder framed main bearings too, along with the head being a 16v ( a YB copy).

I know someone who has put over £25k into his Millington engine, and it's not seen action yet

            Here's one in a Darrian :

            Cheers Rob.

its also worth noting that they can be built with a 8v head, and the main bearing caps hold on the sump i think. ( correct if i am wrong).

Don't know when the first Millington alloy blocks appeared but I watched Bill Quine at Manx Racing Developments unpack the one for Robin Bradbury's engine in 1991.

The first blocks were available about 1989

Why didn't FoMoCo bring the RS (alu) version out at the same time as the STD block in 1970?

Casting aluminium is difficult to get right, and doing a block back then would have been a nightmare, have you ever looked closely at an alloy block from a bd, they are not pretty.
