  • what u lot reckon

I have the mk2 tucked up in the garage awaiting funds, but been thinking along the lines of modifying it.
I am keeping my mk1 mex and will restore her in time so dont really want two standard cars and it would be a shame to muck about with it as there are only a few tawney ones left.
I dont want to cossie the mk2 but maybe 2 ltr on 40's, cage, wheels etc.
I dont want to do anything that cant be changed back again, but in one repect it would work out cheaper as the car wont need repainting as she wouldnt be a concourse type thing and i wouldnt have to worry about buying lots of new ford bits for her, i.e light etc and maybe even use her for track days etc.

so come on guys what do you reckon.

Which ever way you go, it's bound to swallow money and going the cossie turbo route
you'll end up just chasing ultimate power as there will always be someone on track faster anyway.

I reckon stick with old skool modifying; 8v 2.1, sidedrafts, cam, bit of nitros (Just to annoy other people!)
not forgetting the lsd. The noise of the thing will keep the grin factor for years if nothing else. :biggrin(1):

        Twin 44 IDF's or 45's on a 2 litre Vinny.

You can modify just about anything - wheels, tyres, brakes, suspension, gearbox, transmission, interior, exterior styling and bodywork.

        Depends what you want really.

If I were heading down the modifying route (I'm not) I'd set distinct performance goals. How much power? etc. Otherwise it could/would turn into a moneypit.

I've gone for the simple "£ per grin" route:
Stock bottom end bar standard 2.1 conversion, s/hand bvh, Burton BF63 cam and 45 dcoes, soon to be mated to a 4.1lsd.... job done.
