french car import problems

have just bought an escort mk1 over in france has been off the road for a while , has anyone done the same and had any problems bring it back to england?
will need to be trailered , i would imagine.

if the car is over 35 years old,you wont have customs duty to pay,otherwise the rate is based on the purchase price,so make sure you get a receipt + the logbook or the title of the seller

Has to be more than 6k kilometers any less and its
classed as a new car (how ever old its is)and due VAT.

well its a 73 mk1 23000 kilometres from new , i thought there was no duty to pay in europe these days on secondhand items.
and yep i gues your right hitch the trailer and go , anyone know a decent route across the channel with a trailer on back not to fussed where i travel from but would like to keep the cost down.

yep, that's right, as it's second hand and your property there is no duty due.
When I bought my RS back from Holland to Germany as there no was no customs (Schengen) there was nobody to pay duty to anyway

look on p&o ,on internet, if you travel at a silly hour its a lot cheaper
