hi john i see you are restoring my old mk1 rs2000 here is a brief summary of the history of the car
i bought the car on the first of august 1974 from alexanders of edinburgh the car started life as a 1.1 xl in bronze after having it stolen no less than a dozen times i had enough and decided to convert it to a rally car and paint it the nice shade of yellow you have kept the car in.i entered the 1978 scottish rally championship and crashed the car no fewer than six times i realised that rallying was not for me. the car was mothballed until two years ago when i sold the car to a scrap dealer in glasgow and how you have turned it into the condition it is now i just dont know as the last time i saw it ,it was a 12 inch block of metal.i do have some of the original parts lying in my garage including the roof section when we chopped it through the pillars after one of the many rolls the car had.good luck with the resto and be sure to do a two page spread the rallye news when finished
