  • Ive Found Another

I found this advert lurking around in a bike forum im a member of, obviously ive now emailled the guy and asked for a price but I dont want it so as soon as I have a price I will post it up here along with the pics that go with it.

A finders fee of two quater bumpers and bib spoiler listed below in its parts will apply.

    Be cool Jase

    The advert is as follows:

    Car:

I have owned this car since 1989, I rebuilt it from the ground up during 1992, and used it for only a couple of years before I got a company car and took it off the road. Since then its stood in storage and had been run occasionally. The shell is 1976 ford escort 2 door, with a 1600 x flow and gearbox from a 1979 1600 sport, the rear axle is also from a 1600, with the 3.54 diff and 9” brakes.

When it was rebuilt it was stripped of all the trim and mechanics, plus the outer wings, front panel, cills, rear inner & outer arches were also removed. Both sides of the floor were repaired, along with the inner wings, a panels, inner arches and both sides of the boot floor. At the same time that this welding was done a ford glass tilt & slide sunroof from a MK3 escort was welded into the roof panel.

The mechanics were all replaced with new, ie roll bar bushes, tca’s, brake discs, copper brake lines, fuel line etc. or refurbished parts.

The following performance parts were also fitted:

    • 140lb LEDA single leaf rear springs, decambered 2” with 2” lowering blocks and LEDA HD buses.
      SPAX gas adjustable rear dampers.
      HD LEDA front mcpherson struts
      9” 145lb front springs.
      K&N air filter
      Janspeed 4-2-1 exhaust manifold
Janspeed 2” single box exhaust system
      4 spoke ford alloys
High output alternator from a 3.0 capri

The wiring loom was also modified to run 165W halogen headlights, with properly sized wiring, relays and fuses.

I got bored with working on it and once the welding was done I put it on the road, none of the filling around the new panels, or the paint got done. I always intended to finish it, but ive never got round to it, and other things have taken my attention. A few years ago I partly dismantled it and bought loads of spares, intending to get it running again, but once again I lost interest.

As it stands, it is a bare shell complete with running gear and a drivers seat, all the doors, trim, glass, boot and bonnet have been removed. it still runs, though the brakes are weak and sticky, and there is a leak in the cooling system somewhere, but the engine is still good and does not smoke. The shell is still very good, all the work done in ’92 is still as sound as it was then, there is some superficial rust in a few places, but nothing serious. There are a couple of areas that do need attention, namely the small panels at the bottom of the windscreen either side of the air vent, and the seam between the heater bowl and the front panel, there is also a small hole (20mm) at the seam of the front panel and the floor on the passenger side, but I have repair panels for these and the work is not major.

In addition to the car there are the following parts:

That's a new one. Putting a sunroof INTO an Escort.
