    • I added 2 black ones for you Derek; will have to see what the postage is to Australia.

Anyway, just spoke to Mr. Schulze: he received a quote from the company that makes the bare camcovers yesterday and he will send me a quote for 38 camcovers tomorrow or friday at the latest.
Now to the small print ....
he needs a written confirmation of the order (signed, who's volunteering?) and a payment of 50% of the total amount before he gives the engineering company the order to make the bare covers. Deliverytime for the lot would be about 5 weeks.
One camcovers weighs 3.1 kg so 38 weigh about 120 kg plus there's the packagingweight. This is too much for normal postoffice-parcels so a courier would be needed which costs 400 euros plus. I have asked him to look into sending the parts in 5 parcels of 25 kg so it can be posted via the normal postoffice. He doesn't want to send all the covers individually. (apart from one for rwdrs to Berlin).

So I will wait until his quote arrives and then calculate what each option
      1) send all covers by courier to taffr; he distributes them in the uk (Graham what's the postage for a 5 kg parcel? Or do we use the courier advertising on the RSOC BB found by Brian?)
      2) send all covers in 5 parcels by normal post to taffr; he distributes them in the uk.
      3) send all covers to me by a private courier; I send them over to taffr in 5 parcels; total cost for the 5 parcels would be approx. 220 euro.

He mentioned that if the order would come from a registred company (with a VAT number) the VAT (German = MwSt) doesn't have to be payed; that would save a nice amount of money. Does anyone have a company that we could use for this???

      • I own a Vat Registered Ltd Company, so I am able to put it through my business if needed.

PM with details required if you wish to use this route. I can e-mail you a copy of our Vat Certificate if this is required.

        Regards
        Martin

          • Hermes will do parcels up to 25 = 8 covers which is covered by 500 Euro insurance for 29 Euros per parcel.Deutsche Post doesn't usually offer insurance for private customers.

The max size of the boxes are 70x70x50, should be able to get a few in one of those.

The only problem being if 8 covers are sent to the UK in one parcels only 500 Euros loss is covered.

            • isn't 3.1 kg a bit heavy? what can a steel one weigh, 750 g?

              • what are the dimensions of the covers? As sticking them in two large boxes may be the cheapest option, assuming the insurance covers any losses.

                              • Dunno how quickly you guys want your cam covers, but Lee Bish and moi wondered if you can wait till May then we could try and bring them back from Amsterdam if it would help?

We would not want to get involved with money in any way though, and would not want to drive to South East Germany to get them (if that's where they are !)

                                The offer is there though.

Leon, are you going on the Classic Ford Tour?....let me know if we can help
