My cousin works with a guy who traded his old one in for new shape, has had problem with 3rd gear, went to the dealership to be told that a certain amount of new shape type R's have this problem, Honda are aware of it!, he knows someone else with one who has had no problems
I used to have the shape before the new one, and was a phenominal car in everyway, wished i had kept it now!

over all i hate the dam thing & if i've driven it a dozen times since i bought it for the wife in december last year it's 11 times too much .....
only my opinion mate.....
ps . buy an ST FOCUS instead or at least go for a test drive...
a nieghbour of mine had one when they first come out and sold it for a golf gti after six months said he hated it and it kept going wrong
he had the previous model and loved it
I've got a new one at work and I have already told them to order me a new Audi A3 'S' Line the Civic is the worst car I have driven in many years!
I have to keep it 3 months but am using the pool Astra SRI the Civic is parked up!
I don't know if it is a Friday night car but nobody at work likes it.
Steve
I have read on the CTR forums about the 3rd gear problem, I think that sorted now though. I don't like the older shape, just reminds me of a bread van ! lol
I know TG slated it too a tad slower and rear susp layout not as good, but this will be used for motorway miles to and from work/airport etc so that doesn't bother me. I was well impressed when you get passed 6k revs though will see what the NY brings, just had to buy a grand voyager !!

Get a Type S 2.2TDCi like I'm almost on the point of doing. Half the fuel consumption of an R - and pretty much as good for everyday use on our roads? Drove one last week and was very impressed with the torque and the response. Steering and clutch a bit light.
Someone I know with a Type R as a company car (and 12 car rally tool!) said his engine was getting a bit tired-sounding with rattles after quite low mileage (albeit with little sympathetic driving...).
