at end of the day, they are my parts. Certain people seem to have a big problem with this. An example, if the price of parts had gone down, would someone still be prepared to pay the higher figure ?. I think not. Why do people suddenly want these parts ??. Never seen any requirements in the Wanted section !!. Anybody else trying to build a concourse car ??. Will someone pay me the £300 for the extended dipstick and tube ??. I think not. Apart from Martin, who i apologise to for not getting back to, i owe nothing, and have always paid the going rate. I,m only going to be able to sell these parts once, and yes, to some extent i am trying to recoup as much as i can, goes without saying surely ??. Nones talking about the probable loss on the car of approx £20k are they ??. Is that ok then ??. Wouldn,t it be right to make money on the car ??. I think not. Some people are bidding on the parts. Good luck to them, i think starting it all at 99p should suggest i,m trying to be fair, if you dont want to bid then dont. Simple. I,m not being difficult, just on the level. As for Gary, you have offerred me FOC advice, and i will always be grateful for that. I think you know that. Also, i have always paid you what you wanted for the parts, apart from the parts you wouldn,t put a price on. And thats fair enough. Is that the end of it.

I cant believe there's another cat fight over E-Bay, Surley Ian needs to get as much back from his expense on Worthers.
Give the guy a break! If you want his bits then buy them in the way he's chosen to sell them!

You pays your money and takes your chances, there was no need to restore the car, it was fine as it was, maybe a bit of detailing or a respray IMO.

As for paying 300 sheets for a dipstick tube, well nobody made you do that and you wouldn't get me doing it no matter how much I wanted everything to look genuine.

At the end of the day, the bits are yours and why not stick 'em on Ebay (others do) but stuff that you've been sold at sensible prices should go back to those that sold it to you IMO if they want it back or if there's gear that you've used and the suppliers of those parts ought really to have first refusal on other stuff you have that they need.

just answering some of the points in the last post, not wishing to keep on BTW.

as a neutral i can see both sides of the arguments, but to be fair if i had spent £40,000 on a car i would want to try and recoup as much as possible.
unfortunately ebay has turned the buying and selling of rare goods into how it is.
ps.. how much for the 7s ian.

i was looking for the black wheel nuts as well as others on here.....my own fault for not buying at the time when ford had them for sale ...
if ian wants to put the parts on ebay so be it..i think he was fair to start the bidding at 99p but we all know that none of the items would be sold for less than £10 or anywere near it....
that is my tupence worth .....

                Its

I have given away FOC some gaskets to anyone who asked for them on here a few weeks ago and theres still some left , thinks its only right, they are not costing me an arm and a leg and there is some very decent guys on here that always return the favour with information or other bits. Would hate to put them on ebay only to see someone on here who is badly stuck for them to be paying stupid money for them. Just my 2cent worth anyway!

                    • There's no need for anyone to fall out, we've all got our opinion and we're all adults. It is down to the individual what he does with his parts it's his decision but i know from experience what a great feeling it is when you've helped/been helped out by a fellow enthusiast. i don't blame anyone for trying to recoup costs no one wants to be out of pocket.

I have had a wanted add in the wanted section for weeks, looking for 7 inch ronals. Even phoned Ian asking if he would sell ( 3 times). He said he would get back to me which he did..the day after he listed them on ebay
My offer was £850 which i thought was a decent offer.

Bought a set elsewhere now. Dissappointed that years of friendship/advice etc means so little at the end of the day!

Ian, only just read this now and I want to set things straight.

I didn't sell you a dipstick and tube, must have been someone else (who didn't complain). I did sell you a pair of German type front indicator lenses you were after and for an amount you could determine after getting the parts.

Like lots of people on this BB I have given away parts and/or sold parts for little money to fellow enthousiasts but I don't mind selling parts on the bay for lots of money.

                            Regards, Leon.

Leon IIRC the dipstick and tube was from Dasadrew.
