  • Tracking a car down/history

Does anybody know the best way to find a car just by knowing the registration number? I just phoned the DVLA to ask about a car that my father had years ago and was told that the records for it were incomplete/unavailable.

I want to see if this car is still on the road or not, if it has been scarpped is there anyway of appyling for the number plate?

DVLA are a little stuborn in releasing details of a car over the phone.

The way I would do it is send for copies of the previous keepers.
DVLA should give you copies of the old log books it costs a fiver.
They should do it even if you don't own the car.
This way you will see who the last owner was & when they bought it.

Have you done a vehicle enquiry on DVLA's site..??

Most people would put a post in the cars re-united thread with the Reg number & model.. RS Mex etc..
You never know someone on here could own it.

Was told it was going up a while back.
Think the new form is something to do with making a freedom of information request.
        I may be wrong.
