Surely these overpayed nancies Sorry Footballers, are professionals ? top of the game, do they need telling how to play ? they must be able to work out where the right goal is and how to work with their team mates to get it in there ?

in a way you're of course right, but these lads need geeing up and encouragement, despite actually them knowing that they are good enough.

If you are given a job to do, you do it, you can't just go wandering off wherever you fancy, that just leads to disaster! The manager has to pick the right tactics, which clearly McClaren is no good at, I mean using a proper 3-5-2 against a continental team (Croatia) for the first time and away as well, was asking for it.


it's the same with club management, you can sack the manager and get a new one in, you can't sack the team, so it's the manager that gets it in the neck, but nobody wanted that numpty in the first place, so it's no great surprise that he was pushed, as he wouldn't do the honourable thing and jump.
