    Yes. I once broke valve spring(s) during a run at a hill climb. If engine didn't semi seize, chances are the piston will "polish out". To check if individual valves are bent, roll them on a sheet of glass. Check cam lobes and followers/post heads to be sure followers didn't come off and do any damage.
    As for worrying about "genuine Ford" (above), the last time Ford probably made valve springs was when Model Ts used hairgrip type?

      Bet you could not believe it though, Bound to be teething trouble.

      What were the lads asking?....'WHAT IS IT......IS IT CHIPPED ETC'? lol

            took head of no damage lucky just a few scratches on top of the piston put another valve in didnt want to risk putting a bent one back in heads back on and running again heres a few pics

                  the engine was standing a long time outside by the previous owner i never cleaned it off anyway you cant see it with the rocker cover on

                            A minor glitch, glad it was nothing serious Have you changed all the springs or just the one?? If just the one, another could go leading to something worse......

                              as far as i know the engine had a complete ford cam kit fitted by the previous owner it must have been a bad spring what is the chance of another breaking

                                Probably none. I would have changed them all just in case though. If you say the engine had been out in the elements for a while with the cam cover off???? Maybe it had weakened the springs corrosion wise? Sorry to be a doom merchant but just a thought. Cheers, Kev.
