  • Mexico's

Ok, here's one for you. Exactly how many MK2 Mexico's were made and how many in each colour?? To my knowledge there were just over 2,400 built. Also how many actually left the showrooms fitted with 2 litr engines??? (I know of one )

If there was only around 2400 produced as Kev says they must all have had about 50 ****in owners because all I ever hear is ' I used to have a Mk2 but mine was a Mexico'

That's like the one about the flat front RS 2000, I'd be interested to know how many were produced as such, can't be many more than 50 I should think, if any at all over the counter vehicles

Thats easy mate , Ford didn't produce any flat front RS2000's for sale through their dealer network. The confusion also arose because Ford Australia built flat front 2.0 spec cars but these were not RS2000's . My understanding anyway ........

Australian 2 litres were GL's and came with the square head lights, 2 or 4 doors. (Saw plenty of these whilst over there in 98)

Ford homologated the flat front shell as an Escort RS I believe , the rally boys could buy an RS service shell and build a car for the forests , there was no official Ford produced flat front RS2000. Since when were Trofue , a toy company, the authority on RS Escorts ..
