The Stratos, I feel as the first real purpose built car for rallying.

scooby and evo, just the way they were the forfront of modern rallyin for so long and the scooby still is and still going strong from GpA to WRC rule changes.
the delta seems to be the next big thing after GpB was endded

This is what I'm getting at, I'm not talking success here. But I would like to get a 1800 in there.

Lotus Cortina : The roots of the Ford RS (Cortina engine into an escort = Twinky)
Stratos : First purpose built rally car
quattro : The start of the 4x4 revolution & some say turbo as well.

I would hardly ever class the Stratos as a road car??

                  And yes Tim, it is!!

Yeah, I see them all the time in Tesco car park. They are normaaly lined up behind the RS200's...

I thought you meant infuential rally car that spurred road cars. The Stratos road cars were never meant to be mass production. They were just road legal race cars.

Or did I miss the point of your first question??

Had a call from the guy who used FEV in a classic car mag, he's seen the quattro pics and fancies doing something with the mag he works with.
