I have worked on the security operation for all the party conferences in Bournemouth since 2002 and among the guys in the team we started an annual competition to see who could get themselves on TV the most. Sky News and the BBC used the same balcony every year for their interviews and we would devise various ways to appear in the background. Although I won for the number of times, my mate Darren got the top award for style for appearing in the 6 0'clock news behind Gordon Brown in the basket of a cherry picker wearing a Groucho Marx disguise, including glasses, moustache, trilby hat and cigar
