  • car advice please

As some of you know i had a mk1 mex resto lined up before i lost my job, well as i now have a new job and the mex is still there i am wondering what to do.
My ultimate fav car is a mk1 mex, but i like my 16i and its all on the road and very clean and tidy but would have to sell to fund the mk1 which whilst very solid etc needs paint and an interior.
My new job with the rac means i will have less spare time so do i sell 16i and buy the mex and sit on it till i have a bit more time because the way the prices are going i can see them being out of my price range or the price i would be willing to pay in a few years time or do i keep the 16i and use and enjoy it when i have the time though always really wanting the mk1
I know that its really down to me and the end of the day but would like your thoughts please chaps

      Hi Vinny,
restoring a MK1 costs a fortune these days due to most parts ending up on ebay..and then there is getting the time to do it. If you like the 16i and its running well then keep it on the road, and start buying odd bits and pieces for the mex..eventually when youv`e got most of it together then start the resto.

buy it,if you don't you will regret it even if its two years down the line when its finished these cars are getting very rare and prices are high imagine the prices in two years from now,its a big move but you will be glad you did it in teh end

Vince , get it sold , then buy the Mex and work on it as and when , no rush , people on here will help with parts at the right prices , you are like me never happy unless theres a MK1 or MK2 in the garage.

                    Cheers, Paul

Get it bought and worry about time and money when its tucked up nice and snug in your garage

Don't fall off your bike.... It Hurts

You won't be happy unless you have the car you really want mate, I think reading between the lines that is the mex! so get it bought and do it as and when you can.

i'd buy the car which ****es the neighbour off the most

if the mex means hammering and banging, so be it

Vinny, is the car up & running or in bits.?

If it's running throw some vinyl seats in it & take it to the MOT station.
Do the bits to get it through an MOT.

If it's in bits look for a runner. At least that way your still out there driving a car. (even if it needs a resto)
Youn can then gather the bits for a resto while still using the car.
                              Mark....
