Aye its the biggest problem now, without a current good car that excites people the RS brand is not going to get better. My folks now nag me all the time for wasting money on old Fords and I constantly get questioned by Joe Blogs on why dont I get a new car.

We could invest in a giant umbrella.

Post a pic of cumbria 2007 at 2pm, just as sorry sight to be honest, cars streaming out and show very baron due to bad weather, sadly weather ruins shows and keeps people away. Just think if it had been at Donington with the far higher price and then the rain came we might not get another national day as it would have lost the club a fortune. First time in a long time I didn't travel to ND mostly due to weather that weekend and the general weather throughout the season has put me off rather than venue. TBH a show in Tescos car park can be a great show, its the people who make it, to me the location only plays a small part.

I think Mr Scar replied to that one, seem its been looked into by his responce.

It is a fantastic venue though, not sure if you'd get Nat Day in there though with the limited infield space available.
All aspects will be looked at by the committee to see what worked, what didn't etc.

i didnt go myself as when i woke up at 6 it was peeing it down but a mate who went said it was total crap & if it wasn't for the fact he's spent £15 to get in he'd of left after 15 mins...
After reading all the bad posts on the rsoc site & really only a few people with alternatives one of which regarding going back to the way it was & having track days separate from National days was shouted down by somebody saying where supposed to be going forward & not backwards with the RS scene.
I personally think this would bring alot more people with RS's back to the fold, rather than trying to combine the 2 events in one split them because not everybody wants to take there car round a track.

you can all wake up now after that as i've finished..

Gents, I am in no way having a go at the RSOC , the pic I posted was borrowed from the RSOC site and I had no idea what time it was taken , Giz's pics show more in attendance but still a dire setting even if the weather was improved (in my opinion). I want to be positive about the RSOC , Scar has stated Oulton Park is not big enough , however club membership is smaller now, attendance is down , so maybe Oulton may have to be reconsidered as a venue. Oulton Park is a lovely setting and a nice track, easy access, and if its big enough for British Superbikes and BTCC surely it will be big enough for the RSOC , have the comittee visited the site ? I think people saying its too far North is rubbish , the distance to travel does not put off the true enthusiast as that is all part of the ND weekend .

Is Cadwell Park an option, seems to have plenty of space around it for a good show ground

ring Henry up to starting making RS range again

Very good, those were my thoughts exactly. The eighties were when the Escort scene turned from a boys thrash it flog scene into an enthusiasts scene. There are ever fewer cars and those that survive are also used for hunting through the forests, so I wouldn't expect much to change too soon.

I agree, to some extent, this starts from the very top. FMC, as far as i know have no desire to make anymore RS,s. The old school stuff is getting rarer and rarer for different reasons. MK3 and 4,5,6,s arent that far behind, Sierra,s are in the same bracket, leaving Escort Cosworth and Focus. I personally will run out of steam sooner or later and so will the others i,d expect. Man can only take so much. I,m personally finding the effort it takes to get the car there, the effort involved while its there etc etc takes it out of you. Ive recently said, i take my hat off to the guys who have shown their cars for years. Takes alot of effort. Then to be subjected to the current fun and games, just makes it, well, hard work to say the least. Cant honestly give a long term solution, maybe its the beginning of the end. Sorry to sound negative but it may just be the truth. Us 40 something year of kids are still living in the eightees, i know i am. Look at everything else around us thats falling by the wayside. The RS,s may just be another part of that cycle

this was my first year showin with a car and 2nd year around the rs scene so its all fairly new to me.
i was abit disapointed with my first rsoc national day,it just didnt feel like national day, having been to donington in the mid 90s and last year but the weather played a part in that.
the rsoc local group shows is a good mix of new/old and static and track shows, somthing for every1 through out the year, just a shame that cant be reflexed in 1 big show for ND.

its a shame so many say they cant be bother with rsoc show cus of to much plastic,if half them people turned up for ND then the show would be full of escorts, maybe if the reggy was more active then more mk2 would be out, just look at mk1s,hardly see any of rsoc show and wayne got 12 there on sunday for his display
