Been tapping along slowly and steadliy getting the old waggon sorted but now need a little help. Workshop space has suddenly become scarce and I need someone to finish off my shell kinda like NOW! Been quoted 7500 for a wee bit of welding and a spray. Anyone recomend someone that'll do a reasonable job at a reasonable price. I'm not looking for a show car, I wanna drive it. eg my plan was to stone chip and hammerite underneath not spray it. Car located near Spalding, unfortunately I work near Manchester.

    Cheers

Is it a bare shell? I know a man that may be able to help, but it is in Kent. He painted my sister's Escort Cossie and it looks stunning. Lots less than the money you are talking about!

Get some images and I will talk to Martin for you. He has recently opened a bodyshop and is looking to build a portfolio that isn't just a scuffed bumpers on a Vectra! I am sure he would be keen to help you out

The Bodyshop is called Spectrum Bodyworks. It is located between Marden and Chainhurst:

Its a wee bit more than a spray job. Needs a tunnel and few other minor bits of welding before paint. Hopefully these pics will attatch. I've been offered 2200 for it as a roller but that would mean including an atlas (with discs and lsd), front billies (300/70's built up with ap tarmac brakes - yes proper ones) bias box etc. My thoughts were 2200 plus what it would cost to finish might buy me a nice RS! Thoughts please?

Just to confirm jobs to complete:

Tie in four link boxes to roll cage, skid fronts and box around bottom eye for access.
              > Fabricate and fit transmission tunnel (T56 box and needs twin exhaust tunnels at sides)
              > Fit seat mounts.
              > Fit spring eye skids
              > Fit watts linkage brackets
              > Double skin bulkhead (braze) and fit peddalbox brace
              > One strut top is fitted badly (by me, I'll admit it). It slopes up to the outside I think the easiest fix is to break the welds and push down before rewelding.
              > Braze down strut top reinforcing plates.
              > Restore chassis rails where I cut it to fit engine mounts (moment of madness!).
              > Make up chassis mouted engine mounts
              > Make up gearbox mount
              > Fit larger rad which will require widening of gap in front.
              > Sand and paint!

Try Darran or Mark from Escort-Tec, but they are in surrey!
Steve Marden.Mk2 RS2 gone, now got a 420 BHP 3dr Moonstone Sierra Cosworth, its fun.

I think Escort-tec would be the people to do the major work on the shell. I don't think that it is something that Martin would be comfortable with. Rebuilding bent cars isn't a problem, but he might get a bit lost on the 4 links and engine mounts etc. I will still put it to him though.
