it appears this evening ive gone down this route. Smiling on the outside, hurting on the inside. From the very start of the Worthers build i knew wanted i wanted to do with it.Hindsight is a wonderful thing. The car was always going to end up in "no mans land". Respected people told me this. I didn,t consider this, bearing in mind, i hadn,t considered how much detail i would find. For whats its worth, i know deep down it cant compete with the likes of SKC in modified or the red car in standard. Maybe i should have sat down beforehand and thought it through abit more. Maybe this sounds abit heavy. Maybe i should find another car and do another one. Maybe i should as Gra said, retire Worthers after Nat Day and sell her. Please consider, each to their own at the end of the day. I think after Sunday, i should have a much clearer pic of whats ahead.

Ian, from many threads you have made, it seems like you are constantly talking yourself into getting rid of Werthers.
If you are really not 100% happy and have not achieved your goals, then yes, selling up and moving on may be the only solution. The new owner I have no doubt will be delighted.

i dont mean this to be disrespectful at all,but you appear to post threads for people to say they love your car etc....(i hope that reads right).if your happy with it and you did build it who gives a monkeys what happens at nd,its still one of the best mk2 rs2000's i have EVER seen m8.i dont think im the only one that would think that.if your in 2 minds with the car then sell it and get somethink you can use and have the crack in like most others on here.mine is not to every ones taste i know that but i would'nt change a thing on it to make it look different in other peoples eyes.as said this is not meant to **** you off,as when i met you you seemed a pleasent fella just my view on all the threads i read about yours and concours etc.just enjoy it m8 pleasesigpic

Ian, you are suffering from something many of us appear to be afflicted with... It's called never being satisfied with what we've got!
Personally, I have come to the conclusion that I simply enjoy the chase. I get myself into a frienzy with my 'I must have that' head on, then after many months (sometimes years) of searching I fianally get what I'm after and as soon as it lands and the dust settles... Mmm it's nice but perhaps not really as special as I had imagined.
Don't worry mate, you are not alone. It's difficult I know but I bet there are several other reading this who will identify with the sorry state we find ourselves in.
Sell it for big bucks and move on to the next one, sounds easy I know, but as I see it, you'll never be 100% happy with it once you've lost your love for it...

Ian, your car is tops and don't let the clicky clicky group of people tell you otherwise.
The politics in concours is way above most peoples heads and that is why so many MK1's and MK2's no longer compete.
If your unhappy sell the car and buy one that you can use; or do a year or so of Rdays then use the car once you have it out of your system.
Hope you find your calling.

sorry to hear Ian that your head is messed up with the bullshit of of concorse....you have built one of the best cars to ever grace the pages of the web...your letting other people decide how good or is how bad your car is????? WTF is that all about???? Its your car, be proud of what you built, alot of us guys on here really admire people that go to the lengths you have with your resto & detailing....thats dedication Ian...If your not happy with the National Day outcome, sell the car, move on & build another one....Ian i think your panicing to much for nothing....but I dont know you but have looked at the resto tread as it progressed etc & who are the judeges to tell you that your car is not up to there standard...most of judges probably dont like old skool motors....i dont know but you have not wasted your time or money building one of the best examples out there....chin up on the whole thing

i have to echo what paul andrews says. if you are pleased with the car what does it matter. there are hundreds of escort fans out there that would give their right arm to have a car as nice as yours.myself included. i never stop looking for a mint example just to sit in garage and look at.missed out on the white concours on ebay the other week and was gutted. just enjoy it for what it is.. a toy to play with.

thanks guys for all the kind words. Steve your probably bang on. Ive been guilty of listening to too many people and not listening to myself enough. The car is however how i intended it to be. I know ive wound alot of people up over this and could have gone about it a different way. As Topaz said, Maybe i,m not prepared to jump through the right hoops. He,s right. However, that shouldn,t get in the way. Being someones lapdog aint my style. So what now ??. Enjoy Nat Day, and please come and say hello, i promise not to bend your ear too much. Anyway wont have the time, will be polishing the polish and hiding from.....
