Does changing the colour of the original decrease the value of the car? It's a very tidy, very very original!

Yup, suppose it depends on the buyer, but I think most paying good money for a car will expect it to be in it's original colour and if the seller anywhere along the line has omitted to tell the buyer any such details then it could be seen as fraud.
I wouldn't want to buy a car that wasn't in it's original colour, or if I was to do so it'd have to be a resto job that was in need of a complete respray anyway.
