  • RSOC rebuff

Gents, some of you will know I threw my name into the hat for the RSOC secretarys job, however I indicated on here that I would not be attending National Day. I stated I had no motivation to go, my local group aren't going, my car having been off the road for 19 years is probably not up to a 300+ mile run (one way) , there is as far as I am aware nothing MK2 organised, my wife only has this week off work during the school holidays. Anyway I have received an email from an RSOC comittee member basically saying if I can't be bothered going to National Day then don't bother putting in for the secretary job. My reply is you can stick your job, I was willing to make the comitment to travel a round trip of nearly 600 miles to attend comittee meetings and dedicate my time to the club, for missing one National Day out of the last 19 I am not wlecome on the top table.

    cheers, Paul

Somthing needs to be done about a club that was once so good that the wait for each edition of Rallye news was an eternity (when the cover was blue!),now when it drops through the letter box I just think "is it that time already?"

            Paul, that's unbelievable!!

But, it probably is his own view, not the view of the entire committee (well I hope it isn't). Do not let one person get you down; go for the Secretary position as planned and kick some ass .

            Leon.

if you think you can make a diference within the club then don't let this bother you, get your hat thrown into the ring and make the changes that you want made, otherwise you will just have to put up with it , we mk1 and mk2 owners need some clout in the RSOC, so don't let the bastards get to you , get in there and mix it up for a better future, good luck

Name and Shame! that's downright disgraceful.

Go for the job mate, TBH, I think we should all go for jobs and get these tw4ts out once and for all.

                      Neil,
not my style, I will wait a day or two to think this through, have had a second email after I replied back ,things like this certainly make you question your comitment to the RSOC.

This did inspire me to take my MK2 out for a blast this morning, despite the rain ,just to rekindle my enthusiasm, really enjoyed driving the rear wheels again, few nice comments in the petrol station as well

                      cheers, Paul

Oh dear, not very good that Paul. It's people like yourself that are needed in the club at the top level. After all these years of service to them only to get a reply like that is disgraceful. Still go for it Paul please.

the rsoc and a like have always been run by the elitest few , it makes them feel important so many clubs especialy escort related are total shite , how about a new club just for the mk1s and mk2s yes i know there already is one , but look whats happened to that , we need a club run by true enthusiasts who own and love the cars with a total passion , and not a bunch of jumped up tossers just there for there own gratification.
of course this only my opinion.

TBH, you could start any number of new clubs and there wouldn't be enough for everyone to be happy!

I don't want to comment on the RSOC as I am slightly biased against their hierarchy anyway and I certainly don't know enough about this current situation (I thought they had only just got a new Secretary?).

Anyway, my point is that every club has to have a committee and for whatever reason, they always seem to cop it for not doing this or that particular thing right. My #1 club gets so much stick for being snobs/eliteist/clicky/to55ers etc. and I really don’t think we are too bad – OK, you can never please all the people all of the time and you are always going to upset a member every now and again when you are just too busy to drop everything to deal with his/her particular problem/wish. But with regards to running a club for its members, I think we (the committee) put in plenty of effort.

I am sure the majority of RSOC officers also bend over backwards for the club and its members and I have to say I think tarring each and every member of ANY committee is pretty poor – they give a lot of time up for little or no credit and when they get lambasted en-block for what could be a minority action, it makes people wonder just why they bother.

OK, soapbox put away – I just wanted to play devils advocate for a bit… Carry on!
