  • Removing points from driving licence

how do you get them removed after 5 years and do you NEED to get them removed (ie are they still valid)

Most points are valid for 3 yrs but have to stay on for 4yrs, some points have to stay on for much longer but these are normally for Drink Driving and causing death etc etc.

To have them removed you have to send it back to DVLA but they do charge for this i think, if you have the new type photo licence you could just wait to it needs renewing and have it all done at the same time.

            £22 to remove

Fees to renew, exchange or amend your full or provisional driving licence - or to get a duplicate if yours has been lost, stolen or damaged

you boyz do have it hard over there don't you?

here no automatic points for speeding, then it's only a single point and they only stay on for 2 years, I had to pay a speeding fine recently doing 62 in a 50 km/h area, paid 15€.
I haven't changed my license over to the Gerry plastic card thing, don't want any of those points things do I?

I remember the one time I was done in the UK, half asleep on a Sat morning going to work, went past the speed camera doing 42 mph in a 30 limit, I admitted it, told 'em how much money I had to name (£100) and then the bast@rds gave me a £60 fine and £30 court costs (even though I had admitted it and not had a court case) the f@@king b@ast@rds, I was very not amused, I suppose I should have written to them demanding the court fees be removed or months to pay as I was down on my uppers at the time.

Still got mine on the eight pieces of paper(licence falling to bits) there from early 90`s ,why pay to have them removed and for a stupid card and another piece of paper. Never understood when you have the photo card why you still need the second part on paper as well.
You wont need a photo licence soon when they bring in the ID cards
