Corian is a manmade material (by DuPont). The unique selling point being you can make it in any colour, shape i.e. it can be moulded into sinks etc.
Have you tried the reconstituted stone/granite in B & Q it's still expensive but less than real granite. The recon stone in Ikea is really good value for money and it comes in five or six colours I think it is about £60/m.
how much worktop were you quoted for? I got qouted €5k for the wortop for my new kitchen...its what I want & not what my missus wants...she wont let me get it so ive had to reconsider the wortop....i was getting 5.5m black cut granite wortop & the 2.4m x 1.8m wortop for the island....big worktop but its going into a pretty big room

Kitchen is about 7m x 4m so it will have quite a lot of worktops, and an island.
Trouble is, the wife having let me buy an expensive Mk 1 last year, it's difficult trying to justify cutting back on her kitchen
