  • Regitrars valuations

    This is the RSOC mk2 Registrars valuations for a mk2 Mexico;

    Average; £1500-2500
    Good ; £2500-4000
    A1 ; £4000-6000
    Concours ; £6000-8000

    In my opinion these are way off the mark..if someones insurance pay out depends on these figures then this is totally unacceptable.
    Here are my figures;

    Average; £3000-5000
    Good ; £5000-7000
    A1 ; £7000-10000
    Concours; £10000-14000

    Remember the price should reflect how much you would need to pay to replace it.
    What do you think?

                    I totally agree with you Ders on these prices, The RSOC are out of touch with reality when it comes to the current values of these cars.

                    These values are several years out of date that have been published in Rallye news.

                          correct, thats why its important to get an agreed valuation tbh, saves the worrying

                            I agree entirely Dave, but it defy's the object of having a valuation done, when for example, the registrar in question values it at £6000 and everyone else thinks it worth £12000......

                            Posted this earlier on another thread, before I saw Ders's...doh!

                            On a slightly different subject, i've just been studying the price guide on pages 14-15, and all I can say is...... WTF!!! I know that the whole "lagging behind" issue was discussed in great depth when the last issue came out, but when you put it into context and you see the Mex & RS2000 prices compared to the MK3,4,5&6 price guides, the values are laughable!!

                            For example:

                            1. Apparently there has been no movement in Mex & RS2 values since Jan 2006. However all MK1 models and RS1800's have increased in value in that time...

                            2. Concours values for Mex's are quoted as being £6k-£8k...... in comparison; RS1600i: £7k - £12k, Series 1 Turbo's: £9k+, and MK 5 & 6 RS2000's: £7k....

                            3. Apparently you should be able to buy "Good" condition Mex's and RS2's for £2000-£4500!..... Can someone please tell me the whereabout's of this Escort oasis, as i'll buy half a dozen of them!!

                            4. Quote "IMPORTANT NOTE - All RSOC valuations will be based on this price guide for at least six months post the date of publication"......!!!!

                            Now i know that i'm a bit biased, as I own a Mex, but surely a well sorted MK2 has got to be worth more than a newer, more common, front wheel drive RS in comparable condition???!!! I'm not knocking the MK3's by the way, I would love to have a mint 16i sat next to the Mex in the garage, but surely it's about time our "friendly" registrar got of his aRSe and did some research, rather than just picking up Practical Classics every now and then, and copying there price guide!!!

                              Well said, the rs2 & mex registrar is well out of touch with reality!
