Nope, registrars are voted in at the AGM on the sunday. All full members are entitled to attend and vote for any registrar.

It is not just limited to those persons who own that model of vehicle (else I would have not got a single vote ).

As for knowing who is the best for the job, prior to the voting, each person who applies is offered the chance to present themselves and their intentions to those in attendance.

slightly different angle, at the weekend, i tried several times to talk to him, he just shunned me, too busy talking to a fellow concours man, finally, i made him almost talk to me, he did for a mo with reluctance, i think his attitude leaves a little to be desired to say the least. Approachable ??, i dont think so. I know concours isn,t everyones cup of tea, i was just wanting some advice and guidance, as this will be the first time for me. I DO think its all a big con, i asked the concourse judge who was judging RR,s, Hickeys and Gerards car some questions, he seemed ok, he was quite pleased to tell me he,d got a Escort Cosworth !!!. Why am i worrying about German or English indicator lenses ???. I did ask his meaning of the word concours, i had been told, as per factory, however no better, the judges reply at the weekend was, and i qoute "better than factory"

do you know who u spoke 2 ian,was he a concourser or a local group member? am sure alan cox will be able to answer alot of your concourse question when u meet him
