  • Any electricians on here?

Are there any sparky's on here ?

If so could you help me with a a light im trying to set up ?

I am trying to set up a light outside on the side of my shed that is on a switch but not too sure how to do it and what wires go where .

here is a pic of the back of the switch

can you tell me what go's where and can i get the power for the light off a twin socket that is inside the shed?

where do the black and red wires go that come from the light and also where do the wires go that are coming from the socket?

    cheers

        Hi,

You want to use the COM and the 1-WAY connections on your switch, you won't need the 2-WAY terminal when all you want is one switch and one light.

        Here's a link to a few diagrams.....

        Other things to consider:-

        1. Run power to the shed via an RCD. If you are unsure about this then get a proper sparky. If there's a fuse box in the shed already then you are half-way there, just use one of the spare 5-amp circuits. Remember, it's 5-amp you need for lights......not 13-amp socket cicruits. If you do use a 13-amp circuit then get a 5-amp fuse inline somewhere.

        2. Is the shed completely and utterly water/damp proof?......if not then consider a switch and lamp holder fit for this purpose. B&Q sell them.

        3. If in doubt get somebody round.....we don't want a dead RS owner.

        Ian.
