  • What ever happened to RUD IIT

Does Dilip Patel still own it ? Never heard anything about it after it appeared on the MK5 RS2000 advert on the TV

Anyone know where it is ?

Reg number of car is RUD 1T - RUD 11T was used as a false plate by Ford on the advert.

On car it appears to read AUD1T as Hemant Patel the owner is an auditor.

Car "almost" appeared at RSOC National Day 2003 but the brakes seized on whilst going to the show.

Still owned by the Patel family as far as I know.

I knew it was something like that with the reg, I thought the actual number was RUD 11T and was presented as RUD 111T on the advert - but I am sure you are right.

Was the car as mint as it looked ?

I have never seen the car as it was a concours car before I got back into the RS scene.

It was always known as the best MKII RS2000 but would love to see it today as unless it has been buftyed since it was last seen then who knows what condition it is in ?????

I have seen this car at shows several times between the mid 80`s and 90`s. It is superb, the paint has been well flattened to give a mega shiney finish. I have plenty of pics but dont know how to get them on here!
It is not the best one i have ever seen though.

Yes, it used to pop up quite a lot in Rally News in the late 80's and early 90's but then disappeared. Ders, if you want to email me the pics I'll host 'em and post 'em.

RUDIT , the Holy Grail of mk2's , was and probably still is a mint motor , but was shown before concours went stupidly mental. Original reg was BOX--V. Used to do battle every weekend with John/Tom McLaughlin's BCG904V and Paul Corkhill YHH610V , now we are going back a lot of years here gents. Then one National Day an early roll top car turned up unknown and beat the lot of them , MUT84 . This reg is no longer on an RS but the car didn't show again.
I have photos , don't like looking at them as it causes too much pain (RS'less you see) , if I can figure things out I'll try and post some for nostalgia.
                cheers all ,Paul

Arron - i will need to scan them first, old pics you see!

Paul - i have pics of all those cars you mentioned. You forgot about Steve Rockinghams signal red beauty DTG 555V, or Peter Nixons yellow MTG100P, then the beige ETH 333W. BCG was the best for me!

                    There were the MK1`s also;

Paul Corkhills YUR 919N orange/yellow stripes
                    THE 115N yellow/orange stripes
                    SOW 146N green/green

                    Where are they all Now!

Of the era, BCG was probably the most original, RUD1T arguably the most attractive, both UTF and SCE excellent RS1800's, OPU 200V with all the grp1 bits something special. But time and concours move on ...........

BCG, UTF and OPU are all thought to be in Ireland

Does Hemant currently own the best RS2000 in England, not RUD1T but a W plate car ?
