  • R1 or DUCATI 999 BIPOSTO

I have been out looking at bikes and its between these 2 but i cant decide and the purchase of either is dependent on selling the RS to part fund it

I'm the opposite, I sold my CBR Fireblade to fund my RS purchase. Don't get me wrong I love biking and have done all my life, but I prefer going around in my RS now. It is nice going for a blast on the bike this weather, I used to take the missus on the back, but its always in the back of your mind for her safety.
Ducati's are nice as are the r1's but if I was in the market for another, the new CBR 1000rr Fireblade is more comfortable and does everything it says on the tin.

I agree, have owned an R1 and a 748, the R1 was too big, too much, the V-twin was crap around town but great on the open road, my last bike was the new model CBR600RR, great bike, knee down everywhere straight away, dont see the need for another litre bike, i chased my friend on his R1 with the CBR, he couldn,t pull away and the CBR was quicker round the roundabouts much more useable IMO

swapped my r1 for a 748sps . my 99 r1 was lethal. would throw its front wheel up at 100mph on bumpy roads. the 748 was the best bike i ever had. would go round corners nearly on its side, great handling bike, and the best sound with a pair of pipes on. but as said above, a right pain when round town slow moving. also alot more expensive for parts/servicing than a jap bike.

Owned a 916 for 2 years. loved every minute of it..... let me down loads but would have another. Never ridden a 999 or R1 but are different bikes giving different results in the way the power is delivered..... Try and get someone (bikeshop) to let you take both out for extended test rides see which one suits you..... Good luck

BTW..... sold mine because my little girl came along and to many mates were coming off around me... so got out why the going was good.....

                  I'd rather push a Ford than drive a V**X***L

A few years ago I sold a bike to buy a car - I had an RGV250, and I bought a 3 litre Capri with the proceeds. (I was a much slimmer model then, and the RGV was the business)

I regretted it after about a week, as it was my only bike at the time.

Now, if someone asked me if I would sell my Blackbird to buy an RS, my immediate reaction would be yes.

But if I was asked if I'd sell my RS2000 to buy a Bike - no way.

                    Why is this ?

There are literally 1000's of used bikes about, and it's a buyers market.

Apply that to RS2000's and it's a very different story altogether.
                    Cheers Rob.

i sold my vfr800 to buy my RS, wouldnt have it any other way, the roads are full of idiots jeopardising bikers lives, keep the RS and be one of those idiots

also find a 350lc, all the fun, 1/4 the speed

I'm A Hardworking Chap And Lucky To Have Both , An Rs2 And A 999s , If You Want Trouble Free Easy Biking Get An R1, If You Want A Bike To Look At AND Play With Which Is Sometimes Hard To Live With Then Go For The 999, They Are Shite In Town , Shake To Bits At Every Opertunity, And Not Very Comfortable , But I Would Not Swap Mine For Any Other Bike , Good Luck Mate But My Advice Keep The Rs And Go For A Cheaper Bike , So When You've Done The Bike Thing You Still Have The Rs In The Garage , Or You Will Have To Get A Mortgage To Get Another , Graham
