is it just my car or does anyone else have the same problem with them, my fuel gauge only reads 3/4's full and when its empty it reads 1/4 empty.....is there any way i can reset the gauge????

Also is there any way I can get better lighting from the dash as I cant read my speed etc at night or in the morning when I going to work????

Dash lights you can get the LED replacment bulbs

I think every RS suffers from the 3/4 tank syndrome, all mine have even with new sender it did the same ?

That sounds a bit expensive, these pintos aren't like the new Ford motors, you don't need to replace all the idle rollers on a pinto they had quality tensioners that were put uner next to no stress.

So unless they're whining or have slack in 'em leave the old ones on there.

My timing belt came from the UK off the bay £6.50 + P&P, a Gates belt, best quality belts in the world those and OE on many many fords

In fact all manufacturers use them as OE stuff, far better than Continental rubbish. I should know I'm a mechanic

What's all this about LED's can you really get LED's for the dash's?

As far as I know you need to get hold of capless 3W bulbs (You can fit 5W, but be careful all around doesn't melt!)

forgot to add, my fuel gauge reads full. You need the voltage regulator checking. I'm looking into a mod for this using a transistor. Dad did it to my first mk2 20 years ago.

Excellent, have got a complete dash set up now, drove the thing back in the dark the other day and about two dash bulbs worked!!!

                    Look forward to these LEDs

My RS has only ever shown 3/4 full since I bought in 1978 and shows empty even with 2 gallons still in the tank. Took it back under warranty and all the dealer did was to 'adjust' the sender unit untill it read full. Only problem was it showed 1/4 full when empty and I ran out of petrol the next day. The air was a nice shade of blue when I saw the service manager later that day.

                      Phil.

Mine shows full or just under, but will after a bit of sloshing about show 4/4, my problem would appear to be the rev counter refuses to (rarely) to work until the customary thump to the dashtop, then it's fine too
