  • Why ??

Now, if anyone out there knows me, they know i dont pre-judge. So last week i duly filled in the paperwork and sent off a cheque for £80 yes, three years membership to the Whizz Pop Bang OC. Or formally known when i first joined in 1986 with RKK 372M my Daytona Yellow RS2, the RSOC. My simple question WHY ??. Ive now read in a post that there will be no concours at Santa Pod 10th June. Why have i joined ?? all answers (no rude ones) will be gratefully received.

I've never given the RSOC my hard earned and TBH I don't think I ever will, I asked a few questions and never got replies and that was back in the nineties, always felt the RSOC thought very highly of themselves, I like the AVO, though seem more like a traditional British car club to me, a bit old fashioned but all of them genuine enthusiasts.

I never really gained this impression from the RSOC, although it always was a really well organised club, it was only interested in RS owners, and this has turned into a lack of interest in even the real RS's.

Only catering for FWD or 4WD models. This is why I'm here as when I wanted to get back into the Escort scene tried the RSOC BB, and very quickly found out that nobody takes it seriously there anymore

Maybe there'll be a change, but TBH I think there's too much internal intrigue for there to be any changes for the better in the foreseeable future, to all those that still give membership fees to the RSOC, I hope you think it's worth it, and or can turn things around.

One things for sure, it ain't gonna be easy

Ian, thats the choice of the regional group holding the day not the national club; they may of been put off last year with the light rain they had.

For me as I have said before the club is what you make it, in the Kent group everyone values each and every model of RS with equal reguard, we try our hardest in the committee of the group to give everyone & every car a fair chance during. There is no them and us in our group and I think you'll find that in most groups. If I didnt find it fun I would put my own £££ into some of the thing we do and most night I'm doing something for the group.

Ian would you except an invite to visit the Kent group at Brands during the better part of the year to show of your car off. Over the winter months we have had 20 -30 cars turn up
