okay, mine car is a 78 model, from the pics of the resto & how the car looked before it was restored it had the flat carrello lights on it......Rodney knows my car very well...maybe he can shed some light on it for me ......as for the lights that neil has how rare are they (new or 2nd hand)

The Lucas H4 is the light for the 75 to 77 RS cars, and theres two different types as well, the inners of a 75 H4 have different diffusers sp,

While we're on the subject of headlamps....... what are the correct fitment for my 78 Mex?? It's currently got "Cibie Iode H4's" fitted which are a bit more domed. I'm not getting all bufty !! But one of them's got a slight crack in it, and if i'm going to replace them, it might as well have the right ones!! "I don't want to lag behind"!!

well i do hope you know there not the right lamp for a mexico anyway...
they was for the harrier and the sport only
the mexico was fitted with lucas lamps from new
but i still like them thats why i have a pair and the will go on the mex....

if you look at the lamp you will see a arrow this points to the side of the road that it's for as you can see on mine it points to the right
if it's a left hand drive lamp it will point to the left

The early Sports had Lucases fitted too as far as I'm aware, so the changeover would have been for all British built Escorts that had flat glass H4 round headlamps. BTW did you know that there's a Bilux/STD tungsten bulb variant of the Carellos look exactly the same just that have those bloody great ugly round bulbs in them
