just a quick one guys

would you build a garage from steel frame & cladding
or concrete block & tiled roof?

the cost is roughly the same but that dont bother me....

€8000 roughly is what its gonna cost....the size of the shed is 30ft x 45ft
i need dryer conditions for my cars, toos etc as my garage is pretty damp at present & mould has been growing on my door cards of the mexico

Or buy yourself a dehumidifier, and let it run 8 hours a day, can't cost 8K

the shed is corigated steel roof, not done properly etc, front doors are the same crap & water ****es in tru the roof & doors are not sealed....
ian that would be getting the pro's into do the job, my mate said hed build the steel shed for me, but ive to get a brickie to build partially up the sides & put my own concrete floor in....thats were the 8k comes from

as for the car going into a carcoon etc its not worth it as the garage is not sealed right

Aaron, the airchambers are fantastic in my opinion, they really do work, i,m just thinking 8k is alot of money, and you dont want to be having this conversation in five years, what i meant was get a pro opinion, based on the garages contents, of what materials to use to stop the condensation and moisture, an air chamber would certainly stop the mould Imo, their a must for your babies

8000 Euros for a 30x 45 Garage is a superb rate, the one at the side on mine 22 x 21 would cost about £9-10k here not euros

You can't beat a well sealed "dry" garage though. If you've got the money then maybe a carcoon is nice on top to keep out the damp, but having a well sealed up building is the only way, to beat the damp effectively

heheheheh....im sure hed love that.....would remind of The Simpsons when the hole town moved into the bunker in Flanders back garden..... ....id buy an air chmaber no problem but at present i feel it wouldnt be worth having.....the garage in my opinion is a very badly built one....it was thrown together by the previous owner who is an agricultural mechanic so therefor the shed didnt need to be water tight...he also buried a lotus cortina & a mk2 rs2000 in the field next to my gaf a long time ago

Those tractor mechanics are worse than plumbers, the BIGGER the hammer the better! LOL He didn't put up a little cross in front of the graves of those cars did he How did you find out about that then

Arron , buy yourself an aircamber as Ian says there great, i , have a prefab garage which is damp and cold in the winter, best money i have spent,what a difference in the condition of the car this winter, no mould.

Have heating in my garage but never turn it on as the warmer the air the more moisture it holds. Especially if it is very cold outside. Have the Mex in a Carcoon which I swear by as after 5 or so months in there without touching it, it comes out looking freshly polished and not even a hint of surface rust on the brake discs

aaron if you have a metal roof thats your main problem , condensation builds up on the cold steel , my mate had this problem but we solved it by putting foam insulation on the inside of the roof and it cured it right away , no cold surface for the water to condense onto , dry even when the weather is really shite , if you go for a new one put up a brick one but use one or two air bricks in the wall to allow for air movement you could even put on extractor fan in , a tile roof is good but use good quality felt under it to stop the condensation , happy building Graham
