17 - learnt to drive and passed driving test in Mk2 Escort 1.3 GL 4 door.
For first two years of driving I used my Dads Mk1 Escort Van 1.3.
That was it, until the mid 1980's when I started stage rally co-driving in a Mk2 Escort Group 1 1300. After two sucesfull years, we rebuilt the car to Group 4 with a 1600 BDA. We had mixed success over the next two years, but then my driver got married and had to sell the car.
That was the end of my Mk2 Escort era until I started building the Group 4 Mk2 with the 2.3 Duratec about 3 years ago.
18, 1.3 Mk2 Popular Plus and moved on to a few other cars, back to a a Mk2 white RS2000 at 19 that had been some what rebuilt due to someone having a off round the lanes (flat fronted ) sold that in 1992 regretted every day until I got FEV 3 years ago.
20 years old ,RS1600 Steel Big Winged EX Works "RAC" Reckie car (have mentioned it on other threads on here) VEV 484L.
Then had 16 Sport ,various MK1 Rally Cars only owned 2 RS's one was a T plate signal orange (is this the right colour) mint condition, sold it to Deccason Cars at Beverley for the same money I paid for it a year earlier, the other was a V reg owned many years later that was a shed, still sold it for £1800 to a pikey trader who had it for sale a week later in Autotrader with a 12 month ticket for £3000 .
Happy Days eh
Had a MKIV 1.3L skater as a 1st car (but I know that doesn't count)! Bit of a late developer with MK2's - 25 when I got my RS2000, but I did have a MKIII Zodiac when I was 18! All my mates thought I was mad, until they realised you could get 7 people in it with no seatbelts!! - Great for going clubbing in! Bench seats are also great for shagging birds down country lanes!! No need to waste time jumping in the back!!
