Sky Tv Connections

We have Sky Tv totally due to the fact that I cannot get decent reception any other way. It's the basic package and works well.

Now I'm getting used to having an unfuzzed picture in one room I would like it in others. I know multiroom would do it, but I'm loathed to pay another £10/month to get something that's already connected to another room.

I can use a wireless transmitter jobbie but that means I would have to watch whatever is on the main tv and in this house means cartoons until 8pm

I would be happy with just the freeview channels but if I buy a second box on ebay I'll still need a card to get the freeview.

Any thoughts?

Is an AV sender. Connect one to your sky box and the other to the TV you want to watch sky on. Works the same as a wireless router and uses a "Magic Eye" to change the channel. Reason for sale, I have hard wired my upstairs at great cost

Hi,you would need a second sky box to watch something different elsewhere,yes you do need a card,but you can buy them on the bay pretty cheaply,If you want to change channel on the sky box[if only using one digibox]you can fit a tv link[available argos £14.99 or ebay £5]this is connected into the 75ma-9v supply that comes out the back of your digibox,the 9v supply will supply your other rooms, better done via an amplifier,i.e.connect 9v supply to amplifier then take feeds from amplifier to rooms etc................ ....hope this helps !!!!!!

I know what you mean and I have a wireless transmitter but I want to watch two different channels at the same time.

If I buy a second box is it just a matter of splitting the input aerial?

Should be ok with a seperate box with no need to split aerial

Ok then, but where do I get the feed for the second box, do I link it with an AV cable or do I split the input from the dish?

We've got 2 sky+ boxes, same as normal in the living room with 2 cables coming from the dish & 2 cables from the dish to upstairs sky+ box.

Cant really help you on costs as the missus works for sky and we get it for free

As Martin says if you want to watch 2 different channels you will need to run another cable from yr dish. U may also need a dual LNB because satellite uses horizontal and vertical axes on the same transponders, so some channels are on the same freq but different axes and this would cause problems if you only had a single output from yr dish/LNB.
