  • your most embarrasing escort rebuild moment..

tried to fit the ARB on upside down over the weekend, had it all lined up on the floor in what appeared the correct way, however it just wouldnt 'fit' - only when i left it for a while to re collect my thoughts / composure did i realise that it was upside down, .........

ah well, anyone can make a mistake (said the Dalek climbing off the dustbin)

anyone else dropped a clanger like that

Err...... not "LIKE" that, more "identical" to it. Fitted it complete - double width, TCA's, the lot. Only twigged when I came to fit the steering rod ends.

too many Bit like Lee, Showing off to a girl I fancied and handbraking it round straight into a lampost Mechanical side, Thought I would be clever when trying to weld a plate on the underneath. Gently Rolled the car onto some old tyres only for the car to go that little bit further and roll onto its roof

                No 1

Showing off to my mate and the car behind

I Handbrake turned my 3.0 S Capri in a country lane Nr Aberdovey

Hit a 1/2 lamp post (Top half was missing so completely hidden from view)

Car spun round superb - just about to floor it AND

lamp post straight into n/s/f door pillar

My mates head smacked against door glass - didnt break though

                ------------------------------------------------------------------

                No 2

3.0 S Capri (again - lol same car)

It had a twin 3" exhaust system - so imagine the exhaust note

In Wolverhampton came off a roundabout sideways

On path opposite a rather large Rasta nodded in appreciation so of course I floored it up over the humpback bridge AND

a Fiat Strada (with a tow bar) had stopped just over brow to let a skip wagon move

I began to brake mid-flight so when I landed all 4 wheels had locked up

Landed nose first UNDER the tow bar

I stopped dead and the Strada shot off towards the skip wagon at a great rate

The Rasta man sucked through his teeth and smiled as he walked past

I got £60 fine and a CD10 on my licence and a new front end fitted by Ford Main dealer bodyshop (I paid extra £200 and had a full respray) paid for by company I worked for at the time as I was collected a 75p seal washer kit

                Oh happy days

Had almost made it from sunny Somerset all the way up to Stanford Hall in the Sport one year (mate sat in the passenger seat), and all of a sudden I get the notion that it'd be a right laugh to give some around the lanes near Stanford.

I then see a hump back bridge and get the great idea idea to give some over that. So I did and got about 3 foot of air, the Sport came down with an almighty thud and that was it, great laugh

I did feel a bit silly afterwards, and I don't think me mate was three impressed either.

Mind you that reminds me of a time when 3 of us were travelling in my mates Harrier and all of a sudden that backrest on the Fishnet gave out, this used to happen quite often after that as he never bothered to get the seat base fixed, it was a great laugh, one minute he was sat upright the next nearly on the back seat!!!!!!

was driving my parents to Mablethorpe for a holiday just after passing my test. saw a level crossing in the distance and thought it would be fun to take it at speed. Didn't see the dip before the crossing and duly took off over the crossing and landed quite heavily. Car was fine but poor mum in the back seat hit her head on the roof as the car landed and had to wear a neck brace for 2 weeks
